Passing - Ancient Bristlecone Pine, White Mountains, California

Scripture:

The world and its desires are passing away, but the person that does the will of God lives forever.
1 John 2:17

Photograph:

This Bristlecone Pine tree is old, very old. Some branches are still alive. Ancient Bristlecone grow at high elevations on the slopes of the White Mountains in eastern California. They can live for thousands of years. This tree, while mostly dead, has a few branches that are very much alive.

As I hiked around this area and among these very old trees, I was reminded that no part of this physical world lasts forever. The world and our bodies are temporary, but if we obey God we will live with him forever.
